A year and a half ago, the business began accepting orders for the futuristic vehicle, which immediately sold out of numerous models.
This caused consumers’ delivery dates to be pushed back. However, the business said in a webinar that it has purchased a plant to expedite car production.
San Diego-based Aptera Motors has created a futuristic three-wheeled solar car that not only looks cool but costs less than $26k!
The size of their new Carlsbad, California plant is 200,000 square feet. According to Singularity Hub, the company intends to create 10,000 automobiles by the end of this year before increasing production to 600,000 vehicles annually. The company has received over 250,000 orders, but they anticipate an increase in demand as more people opt for solar power over gas or electricity.
The solar-powered vehicle can drive up to 1,000 miles on a single charge and 40 miles per day. Some customers may be deterred by the car’s unconventional design, but the car’s aerodynamic shape allows it to use 30% less energy than other electric and hybrid vehicles. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds.
